Do I need TAC approval first?
Physiotherapy is on the TAC's first-90-day list. The TAC can pay for it without prior approval as long as it is recommended by your doctor or health professional and relates to your accident injuries. Continuing past 90 days needs an Allied Health Treatment and Recovery Plan.
What this means if you are the client
If your physiotherapist bills at or below the TAC rate and bills the TAC directly, you should not be out of pocket for the session. A gap fee can arise if the provider charges above $100.07 for a standard consultation or $134.11 for the initial one, so it is worth asking before your first appointment.
What this means if you bill the TAC
The TAC pays a registered provider $134.11 for the initial consultation (item PHY100) and $100.07 for each standard consultation after that (item PHY200), effective 1 July 2026. Treatment beyond the first 90 days needs an Allied Health Treatment and Recovery Plan submitted for approval.
