Gap fee by service type: what TAC pays for physio, psych, OT and more
How gap fees work across the services the TAC funds, with a link to the full rate for each discipline.
How much does TAC-funded treatment cost you? For most services, if your provider bills at or below the TAC rate, the honest answer is nothing. The TAC publishes a fee schedule setting the maximum amount it will pay a provider for every service type it funds, from attendant care to physiotherapy to psychology. Those schedules live on separate pages scattered across the TAC's site, so we have pulled them together on our TAC fee schedule hub, with the full rate, the approval rule and common questions answered for each discipline.
What "TAC pays" actually means
Every figure on the TAC fee schedule hub is the TAC's own published maximum payment rate, the most it will pay a registered provider for that item under its fee schedule. It is not a bill sent to you and it is not an estimate of pocket money to set aside. If a provider charges at or below the TAC rate and bills the TAC directly, you should not be out of pocket for that service.
Where a gap fee can come from
The TAC's own guidance on choosing a provider is direct about this: if a provider charges more than the TAC rate, there may be a gap fee you need to pay. That is worth asking about before treatment starts, not after the invoice arrives. It is also worth asking whether the provider bills the TAC directly or expects you to pay upfront and claim the cost back, since that changes what a gap looks like in practice.
Directory coverage on this site
This site's searchable directory currently covers attendant care only, rebuilt from the TAC's own published attendant care provider list. For physiotherapy, psychology, occupational therapy, chiropractic and exercise physiology, the TAC publishes the fee schedule on the TAC fee schedule hub but not an equivalent public list of approved providers, so we have not built a directory for those service types yet. Start with your doctor's recommendation, and confirm a provider's TAC billing arrangement and current fees directly with them.
